There are less than 6 serious breeders of this variety of Plymouth Rocks in the USA....

Due to overwhelming demand(and the fact my incubator is currently full) , I’m offering 12 (I do send extras as can be confirmed by many) hatching eggs from my line of Columbian Plymouth Rocks that originated from Dick Nieuwlands flock in Canada.  This is a flock that is shown regularly and wins on the Canadian show circuit.  The Columbian Plymouth Rock in LF is among the rarest variety of the Plymouth Rock, and good ones are very difficult to find.  This line is very large & hardy (a customer recently let me know that her cockerel of 7 months weighs in at over 9lbs, no small birds here!), and I’ve gotten feedback from APA judges and long-time breeders that my line is one of very few in the US that is anywhere close to SOP.  I’m working with trusted breeders to continue moving this variety forward.

Fertility & Hatchability has been excellent, even on shipped eggs.  These next generation birds are even more consistent, and I’ll continue breeding them forward to be as consistent as possible, while maintaining adherence to the SOP.  If you are looking to improve a different variety and need type & size, these birds are definitely for you.  If you’re just looking for some eye candy, you sure can’t beat them!

My birds are currently in 3 different breeding pens.  I started with 3 unrelated pullets (now hens) and 1 cockerel.  2 hens and the cockerel were from Nieuwland lines out of Canada, the other hen was the best one I kept out of the Powell line (Ohio breeder)

I hope that answers your questions, if not, please let me know

I have seen these birds in person at Scott's and my first thought was "small turkey".  big_smile.png  They are VERY big chickens and absolutely GORGEOUS!!!   17 of 18 eggs hatched and the resulting chicks are all growing like weeds.  Very friendly personalities as well.

I cannot tell you that all 12 eggs will be "unrelated".  In breeding chickens, LINEBREEDING is most often used which involves the breeding of animals to consolidate the good qualities.  In linebreeding, the method often involves the inbreeding of birds.  Fathers to daughters, Sons to mothers, etc, etc

This is the most common method used in breeding poultry for exhibition purposes

It seems a very unnatural thing to do, but it is what has been advised by most every breeder of exhibition birds

Hope that helps
