should I pip my 23 day eggs

@coachYania, how did you fix her? I have a batman that I had to help hatch and at first it couldn't get off its back. I kept having to place it on its feet and after a day it's on its feet but not walking. I keep working with it and it's looking better but is there something else I can or should be doing? This is my first hatching and only 3 out of 15 have hatched. Today is day 25 and after candling them there are 4 that I'm going to make a pip for and the rest are duds.

WOW..if the eggs are moving I would NOT suggest you throw it out or crack it open to see how far along it was

If you think moving has slowed/stopped you can float test the egg(s) to see if the chick inside is alive. Use a cup of WARM water, let the water come to a complete still, gently set egg in water and let it come to a complete rest then watch for any rocking of the egg. Make sure there's no pips first though. I would give it till day 25. If no PIP and it rocks in the float test, you can gently PIP the blunt end of the egg (air cell) and gently peck away shell until you can see the inner membrane and then with your finger apply a warm drop of water to moisten the membrane. any veins STOP. If you see the beak has PIPs the inner membrane, remove more shell over where the air space is and put back in incubator, make sure humidity is UP, and wait till the veins go away in the membrane (it can take many hours). Any bleeding STOP and try again a few hours later.

To PIP I use a sharp steak knife, and gently (drill) a tiny hole, then use blunt tweezers to chip away the shell over the air cell.

and, be warned that any interferance can have a huge negative impact on the chick.
Hi do you have any recommendations for what I should do, this Is my first time incubating eggs everyone is out of their eggs (small hatch group) except for my one egg that’s a Twin the egg is also very oval I was worried about them getting out at all, but they were developing extremely well very active, the egg still moves a little now and then but I don’t know how long for twins after hatch day I should wait if it’s the same time frame for single eggs or not it’s only day 22 so I’m not gonna touch it yet but any advice would be helpful, also my other chicks keep pushing that egg around I read they could be trying to get them out I’m not sure that’s accurate tho.

Hi and welcome to BYC. The post you quoted was made in 2012, and that member has not been on BYC since 2017. You will get many more replies if you make your own thread. And since the egg you are inquiring about is a double-yolker, that Definitely deserves it's own thread! I remember a hatch from a while back where the member was able to save both chicks but needed to assist the hatch. I couldn't locate the thread, but if you make your own thread, hopefully someone can link the correct thread for you. Here is an excellent article re assisted hatching, but assisting a twin chick hatch will be even more delicate.
