Mahonri's 3rd Annual, BYC Easter Hatch-a-long!

Once again, MN called, this time accentuated by the fact that DS#4 just got home from a dance. (next week is "THE" Prom... he always turns the AC down to 70 and I freeze... got up and turned it back up to 74. Can't imagine what my electric bill will be.

I even turned on the AC in the coop today after we swept and mopped it. Still working well. I really do need to insulate the roof and walls....

Big mistake using the Sportsman. I think I've not only killed off this hatch, but my next 4 hatches too. Now I know why my hatches have been so bad the last 3. Cause I'm stupid!

Hey quit calling my friends stupid!!! I would have trusted a Sportsman too. I've heard good things about them. So sorry the last few hatches have been so horribly disappointing!!!

I KNOW! I hate that word! Especially when Doctors talk about all the babies they've delivered! I'm trying not to get on my soap box about this subject but JEEZ! Who's doing all the really hard work!

I just spent 3 hours trying to catch up on this thread!!! I did scan so probably missed a lot of great stuff but I did see some awesome pics (the chicken brooding a puppy was absolutely priceless), some adorable chicks, read some wonderful stories and some very sad ones. Congrats to all those with chicks and I'm sorry to all of you that have lost babies!

I hope the rest of everyone's hatches go well!

Oh and I just have to add...

I wanted to send my mother flowers for Easter. Anemones are her favorite - but they were all out of them. In fact, all they had left were some ferns. "That's OK," said I, "with fronds like this, who needs anemones?"

OMG after yesterday's debacle with some dead in shell chicks,I have more PIPS! I heard nothing from the rest of the eggs and saw nothing moving when I candled, but what the heck left them in the incubator overnight. And now I have more pips? I quickly shut the bator again and ran to post this hahaha. :p So I can't update the spreadsheet quite yet. Guess my hovabator temp was waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay off.

HE is risen!

"He is resin!, He is risen!”
Tell it out with joyful voice:
He has burst His three days’ prison;
Let the whole wide earth rejoice:
Death is conquered, man is free,
Christ has won the victory.

Come, with high and holy hymning,
Chant our Lord’s triumphant day;
Not one darksome cloud is dimming
Yonder glorious morning ray,
Breaking over the purple east:
Brighter far our Easter feast.

He is risen, He is risen!
He has opened heaven’s gate:
We are free from sin’s dark prison,
Risen to a holier state;
And a brighter Easter beam
On our longing eyes shall stream!

As this is our Easter Hatch, I always try to remember the reason for the season.

I thought it was interesting the number of chicks I hatched.

33. One for every year of our Lord's life.

Sadly the 33rd died after a number of hours.

Rather symbolic... but, He is Risen. Jesus Christ lives!

Through the Holy Spirit, all of us can come to know, HE LIVES!

I celebrate Ostara (when I remember LOL), but happy Easter to those celebrating!!! =) =)

I think I'm going to have waaaaay too many chicks.. Have two broodies and one missing chicken that only shows up for breakfast, so she's probably hiding in the woods somewhere with eggs. argh.
