Post them on this thread, one of the "hatch mods" will take it and put it on the entry page.

You have until TONIGHT AT MIDNIGHT MAHONRI STANDARD TIME (phoenix) to enter the number of chicks you hatched. We've only had 92 people fill out the form, so far.

CLICK HERE to fill out the form!

I have Wellies, Turkeys and Geese that won't all rit in the rcom, no matter how I stack, so LG it is for some of them...until I get this thing fixed.

NOTE TO SELF: Do not send all fresh eggs to others prior to Holiday Hatchalongs.

Chanteclers are worse than Silkies, but you can fit 3 times as many eggs under them, too!!

Good job! Build more coops.

It's fairly common for these birds- it's different from feather-picking, and is some form of grooming ritual. I didn't get it fixed until I made 10" individual roosts all over my coop. They do it at bedtime. I didn't make those roost for that reason, but it was what clued me in. I ignore the de-bearding now.

Faverolles are bad to do that as well.  My rooster used to have an awesome beard but his ladies are continually "grooming" it out for him, lol.

This should begin to shrink as the chick moves around and dries out.

7 older juvies in the coop

15 younger juvies in the basement

23 newly hatched chicks

5 ducks.

Now, see, doesn't that look much better than ... 86?

Holy... 86?? Today was the first day I tallied that. And I sold a bunch on Saturday, too.

I do this too!

I set 42 eggs, and got a little over 30 total to hatch. For the first time ever I actually had chick #1 on day 18, weird I know, then the last chicks, just a couple, were on day 22, Easter.

I got myself some Shamos of neat colors, some Polish, some EE's, some Olive Eggers, and some gorgeously bilaterally tufted Olive Eggers, too. love.gif

tufted chick

Boy or girl, doesn't matter, I'm keeping this beaut!

And here's all three of the tufted Olive Eggers I hatched. The one on the left has only one tuft, the middle one has two nice big ones, and the one on the right has one big one, one small one.

chicks

The tufted ones are very cute!

Ahhhh, yes. It's always excitement around the Bonham homestead. Always something going on. Eye_rolling_smiley.gif

Tyler (27 yr old son that lives in our guest house) has always been a big baby. Always. So, when he moans and groans and complains about aches and pains, I rarely pay much attention.  This morning he said he was up half the night with nausea and pain in the back (kidney area). 'Hmmm,' nea.gifI thought.... Later, he ran some errands for me. Then, at about 4:30, he screamed through the intercom to me. "HELP ME! ! !" I went to check on him and he was very very pale, holding his side, and moaning in obviously tremendous pain. Taylor (his girlfriend) took him to the ER. He just got home. tapping.gif       Kidney stone. Yowser! That's gonna hurt. They told him it was quite large and still pretty high up. It will be another day or so before he can pass it. ouch.gif THAT is gonna hurt.

Mike went to the store the other day, and I told him to pick up some Zest (bar soap). Then why, when I got in the shower, was there Dial soap in my shower?
th_Why.gif I always buy Zest. For nearly 40 years we have used Zest. Why did he buy Dial? I asked him, when I talked to him on the phone last night. He thinks he's real funny. I don't. He bought Zest also. It was "hiding," in a soap container in the towel closet. Funny? I don't think so. smh.gif

Why do I have 6 broodies on nests tonight? Huh? Can you tell me? Why??? I have already let 4 broodies hatch, and they have completed their tour of duty raising their chicks. One Icelandic is brooding chicks now, and 2 more are on eggs. Don't I have enough to deal with, besides trying to find a dozen broody apartments here? Besides that, I just hatched a bunch of chicks!?

I want a vacation. Thing is, I don't want to leave here. I just want everyone else to leave! I want a housekeeper, too. I'm gonna get one, too. ;D  Someday....

QMS.gifQMS.gif

Tyler has my sympathy!  Kidney stones come to visit me every few years - NO FUN!

Moved my 36 remaining babies (after the two deaths the other day) out to the barn. now they can move around! =) I've got the barn heated and they've got their ecoglow in there so hopefully they are all set. Still tempted to set a few under one of my broodies but nah, too much work. She has eggs to sit on. :)
