I put the Seramas in a shoe box sized plastic box up on a dish rack in the brooder for the 1st week or else I seem to lose them from the other chicks being to rough on them. I also crush up the chick crumble so it is easier for them to eat for the 1st few weeks. I have one now that hatched and I put it in with the quail it is about the same size.

I finally woke up to 8 quail hatched yesterday then another one later in the day. My final hatch 5 chicks 9 quail 14/100 14% almost all shipped eggs and a heat spike to 106F then a problem with the humidity. I'm glad I got anything.

Lots of pets. Not enough chickens, a bad hatching addiction and a great DH. ;)I SWEAR I'm gonna unplug the incubator soon. I NOW sell hatching eggs/chicks/chickens!!. Serama 3 coat types, Hedemora, Tolbunts 2 frizzled pens,1 smooth. Cream-Crestedlegbar, Isbars, Oladnsk Dwarf, SQ Mille Fluer d'uccles, Cuckoo Silkies, Russian Orlaff, SFH, Rhodebars, Bielefelders, Partridge Barthuners, White...

Big brooders work too with some adjustments. Place food and water in multi- locations or in the middle. As the chicks grow, and they grow fast, you will want to use the bigger brooder eventually.

So glad you have a few!!

I ended up with 21 chicks of 24 eggs set. So an 88% hatch rate. When is the Turkey hatchalong?? I have turkey eggs coming in the mail sometime this week, but they may be late.  Update on my son: He is doing better and finally able to have jello, broth, and juice after having nothing for four days. He may be able to come home tomorrow. That would mean I can too lol been here since Fri, so ready to sleep. barnie.gif
