You're picking blackberries in April???  Never heard of such a thing.

I picked and individually froze about ten gallons last year from the vines growing wild at the back of our property.  So for me picking blackberries right now would be opening the freezer door and the ziploc bag!

X2 - I have lots of blackberries in the summer and fall, but never this time of year!

Razadia also mentioned that she went swimming recently too. We don't swim here now either. On the Coast, the surfers have to wear suits to keep them warm.

The earliest we will have any fruit will be peaches and Apricots in May.

However, Asparagus is in season. love.gif

Almost too late but here they are:  I had 16 out of 51 eggs set hatch. 3 clears, 2 hatched and then died, the rest developed part way then died in the shell don't know why?

Here are the 2 chicks my broody hatched.

Here are the other 13 chicks and 1 duckling. one chick is hiding under the grey one. you can just see it's head sticking out.

I already turned in my official hatch number as 5/7.  But look how close #6 is?  I guess he/she doesn't want to be counted.  I actually took this around 3:20, so for all I know, it hatched by now. I sure hope so.  If it's still in the shell in the morning when the preschool opens, I'll peel it out if it's still alive.

And for fun, here's some kids crowded around the chicks, oohing and ahhing over how cute they are.
