Right, I'm off to design my new chick grow out pen... as the last one didn't really make it through the last winter (cheap bought flat pack rubbish). And my new coop (to sit in the centre of a split run, so one side will always be empty, I am tired of trying to get mud off brahma feet). I could use the existing coop, but I want a better design, one with perches HIGHER than nest boxes. Still, as I'm breeding for big, my birds can't really get too high off the ground, so all perches have the be a foot or less of the ground. They are also spoiled and fat, but that's got nothing to do with it. My goal is to have it all done for Easter. At least if I set myself a timeline it may actually get done!

My daughter, everything to me, but all I have to do for her is be.

Left is Leafy: my DD's favourite chicken. He thunders around the garden offering me treats, and crows like an old owl...!

Thanks, and I agree Coastal Maine is phenomenal. I take everyone who comes to visit me to Portland as it's always a hit. The picture in my avatar was from last fall. No matter how many times I visit the Portland Head Light, it's always gorgeous to me. When I first moved here I tried to visit all the lighthouses that I could. Most of what's left is either privately owned or out in the water.

I love the Owl's Head one, too.

Good luck, sounds like a worthwhile project.  Always something to tweak and make better!  Hope you will post pics.
