No, no!  This is not a 2 story coop.  This used to be our house! lol.png  We lived in it while we built the real house.  The bottom half is now chicken coop, and upstairs is storage (trash, really).  I talked about putting chickens up there, but the only access is a vertical ladder nailed to the wall (I used to have to climb it to get to bed), and then, of course, the chickens would need a really, really long ramp to get out!  I would love to have a chicken sky-walk, but my personal carpenter (DH) says no way.

You can see the inside by clicking on the My Coop link under my avatar, but you have to scroll down through the whole renovation process.

DH is going to build another coop though, just like the hoop houses in the garden (mobile), but better ventilated and predator proof.  I can't wait to fill it with more chickens!

Thanks!  My sister (the one in Alaska) says the chickens live better than she does! lol.png

I'm baaaa-aaaack!  And I'm joining the Easter hatch-a-long!  I'll be hatching my mom's barnyard assortment plus all the Silkie-X eggs that my hens lay.  Great luck to everyone!

The Cat is in the henhouse!!

Mom to: 4 dogs, 15 cats, and... Chickens! 11 purchased Silkie chicks; 3 assorted bantam chicks;  2 Silkie Roos (buff & partridge); 17 Silkie O (formerly known as Silkie-X); 4 Black Rosecombs; 3 EEs; and one gorgeous Ameraucana rooster named Flame!  More chicks every day!  Go, chickies, go!

Michelle, I don't know of anyone around where I live who processes (probably are plenty but I don't know my neighbors all that well) so I learned by going to an internet site.  If you have done a chicken, I find turkeys even easier.  There is a lot more room inside to work your hands in to get the innards out.  If you google butchering a turkey, there are plenty of sites and I am sure there are plenty of videos.
