When my kids reached the age where they could clearly INTENTIONALLY manipulate me, the thing I'd say would be, "If you aren't on fire, don't make noise. Go to sleep. If you DO make noise, you might WISH you were on fire." They know my sense of humor and that it was not at all a real threat, but they also got that they needed- at that point- to restrain themselves, because Mama was DONE. When I slipped into my low, quiet voice, they were far more attentive than when I yelled. They were AFRAID.

Now they're 14 and 16 and I just walk away and turn off their texting. That works really fast!! My current method of 'calm bedtime' is to point out that they are at this point being given the opportunity to go to bed as I expect, prior to my coming unglued. The consequence of my coming unglued is that their bedroom doors come off and go in the garage. "Now, weigh your choices carefully."

Well, all of my Easter Hatch Eggs are bought and paid for!

In a couple of cases, the eggs were freely given so... I owe people!!!

What I'll be setting!

At least a dozen+ each from

WhiteMountainsRanch... Blue Wheaten Ameraucanas

Peachick....     Wheaten & Blue Wheaten Ameraucanas

NotAFarm..................................ICELANDICS!!!

ChooksChick..... the Famous Kansas Grab Box!  Wrapped in FOAM!... and a bunch... ie... more than a dozen!

( I won't know for certain what breeds I'll get until they get here!  HOW EXCITING... I so love surprises!)

Renee's eggs should also make guessing the first three breeds out very interesting!!!

If I have more room I may have to find someone in The Valle of the Sun with fertile hatching eggs

So folks that should fill my bators!

YIKES!  Y'ALL getting excited like me????!!!!

For this you can just guess, Ameraucana, Icelandic and then one of the many breeds that Renee will be sending me... and you have to guess them in the order that they will hatch!... oh, and if Renee sends any Ameraucanas...then yea, you'll have to guess the color!

Here's a pic of my backyard Banty Shanty last summer. It's quite brown out there now, but the trees are starting to bud out. My backyard flocks are in this house and an 8x8' shed. There are only about 20 birds back there. I don't have any good pics of my farm, much less green pics...so this will have to do!

Be sure to hit the Kansas area- we have a bunch of BYCers here and we'd be able to introduce you to KS BBQ and excellent award-winning micro-brews.

You could collect an egg or two from each meet-up and have quite a collection from across the country if you ever did do this tour!

I went to fix it, since my kids do need a momma, and my glass was empty, and some one had already pulled me kicking and screaming, and pruny out of the water.  lau.gif

I read a lot a lot. I can sit down and read a big book in 4 hours. If the book is in a series, I have been known to readathon for an entire weekend, and then complain that I am fat with an aching back.

And mad that the series is over!
