lau.gif   wweellll............   the box was all ready made, it is a brooder box and all I had to do was put a Peace's of fome on the top. then I put 4 brooder lights, one in each corner and fan in the mittle of the box on the top.  I had to wait till I had the 4th light to turn it on. the only thing I am doing now it cutting up egg cartons to turn the eggs with.

And what are you using for a thermostat?

Sorry, now I'm worrying about other's homemade bators!

I have two of them that came with the bator I got last year and the 3rd one is a small outdoor one that I got last year as well.   everything that I listed was stuff I had laying around wee.gif   because we really can't buy anything right now that is not of the most importance.   the two that came with the bater likes to drive me crazy!!!!!!!!!     rant.gif  but I kind of figured them out.

I hope to have the F3s on the ground this summer. The F2s are nearly 6 months old now.

You will most certainly have some of them!

I LOVE the variety of the F2s. I am hoping to continue with a couple other projects with the Buff Barred and the Buff Columbian from them.

If you want some, let me know. I think I will keep the F1s penned for another month or so...... and then...... they will likely be culled down to just a trio, as I move the F2s into that pen.

Kathy you are on!  The variety sounds very pretty.  I will PM you to discuss.  thumbsup.gif

Well now I understand why everyone goes nuts with the styrofoam bators.  The one I picked up yesterday I have stabilized between 98 and 100 (using my Spot Check) but it took many tweaks to get it there.  Not much movement on the knob brings big differences in the temps.  WOW Thank goodness for all the good advice I have read on these bators on this site.  The "reference" temp gague for the bator reads only 91 degrees.  No wonder so many people cook their eggs with them.

Hello all-

I'm not a big poster here now, mostly lurk and re-read threads of interest.

But I wanted to say that I'm playing along with the hatch! My aunt and I are doing a full assortment of 42 eggs from her farm and mine. I have white rocks and she has everything else wink.png

So- count me in, and we'll come back to post how many when its all said and done.

Oh, and thanks for making this thread possible. AWESOME IDEA!

How does stacking eggs in the Eco 20 play out when they start to hatch? I was under the impression from reading other threads that even 20 might be a little tight for the chicks come time to hatch.

I dunno what others do, but I have the advance EX (same size) and I pull my chicks out after about 10 hatch. Have never had a problem that way. Once I see them squashed in like sardines and dry, I yank em. :P  I've had up to 30 eggs in my brinsea, so I don't have much of a choice LOL.. :)

Today, since SCG sent such nice big eggs,I only could fit 29, even with squeezing in a few pullet eggs.
