36 eggs, yep, the lid fits... barely, barnyard mix, (Speckled Sussex, Wyandotte, New Hampshire, Campine, etc.).  Set on Sunday morning.  Will do official entry later tonight.  Super busy.  Bajillions of posts behind in reading ... I fallen and I can't get up!

Temp is holding at 99.9 Im not touching anything. I am nervous about the temp because I dont have my incubator full this time. Temp holds better with a full incubator.

18 eggs. IF they are all fertile, and when I candle IF I dont have to take any out, then it should be okay. But if some quit or are infertile, I am worried my temps will drop.

I should add more eggs...

Linda, I hope you found your humidity papers.  I know exacly what you are talking about because I have a Brinsea as well.  If you didn't find them, I still think you could use folded up paper towels to do the trick.  The water just needs something to catch it and spread the water out so that it evaporates.
I am trying the dry hatch with the styrobator.  I have not put any water in the channels at all and mine has a fan.  Reading Renee's cheat sheet, I am not sure if I am supposed to add water now to try to keep a little moisture in there or if I am supposed to wait until lockdown?  Anyone else doing this method with a forced air incubator?

Yes, I'm trying it this time too.  I'm a little worried/confused about the fan issue.  I don't think I can disconnect my fan for lockdown either which I would prefer.  My channels are empty as of set time but, holding about 26%.  If it drops below 22-23% I think I will add some water.  I feel comfortable with humidity at 30-35% tho.  Any thoughts?  Dsgard, can you hold my hand for this hatch?  I'm nervous!

No time for moderation.

I can quit hatching any time I want. . .  I do not have a problem. . .

I swear, I'm NOT TOUCHING IT!

I suppose as long as it stays between 98.5 and 101 it should be OK, RIGHT????!!!

Down, boy. REMEMBER: The momma doesn't have her breast set to a certain temp and she gets up and wanders off occasionally. Your incubator can fluctuate between 98 and 102 as long as none of the swings lasts HOURS. It's mimicking nature, despite our psychological need for unwavering stability. Breathe. It's GOOD.

How the hork did I get on the Sanity Commission here? Where are this guy's handlers??

You can leave it dry, and when you candle around day 10-12, compare the aircell size to what you are accustomed to- if it seems bigger, add a bit of water and keep it a bit moister.

I meant to ask ya'll yesterday... I have one of those perfect oval eggs in my hatch and was not sure which end was the pointed end.  I know what the air cell looks like once it becomes obvious, clear looking area in the end of the egg, but I didn't see that in any of the fresh eggs I looked at.  I candled the oval one and one end has a small lighter area without defined edges and the other end had a slightly darker, perfect circle with defined edges.  Which is the air cell?  I would guess the lighter end but what is the other thing?  It was off center, so it is not variation in the shell thickness.  Any ideas?

What a perfect time to remind folks about the list of hints on the first page! There's one just for that!

Put it in on its side, and you can come back and candle in a few days to see where the cell is, as the veining will show you in a well-defined way.

I was going to set my eggs from gabbard last night but noooo...my son woke up 26 times.  And I'm not joking.  Between and 9 and 12, he woke up 9 times, then after that it got worse.  I don't know what it was was.  I tried to give him something to drink, I gave him tylenol becacuse he's teething, I did everything and he'd wake bawling.  I am soooo exhausted.  He is awake and not tired...me, I'm about to send a red cross message to my husband who's deployed and say I am going to die of exhaustion and he must return immediately so I can sleep.  That was just me marking my spot.

I'm gonna do it too! My1588 is at 30% without any water added, but I'd call that good for now.

That's awesome! I'll look forward to that every day!
