All these pics of Flappers and celebrity look-a-likes are cracking me up!!!  You all are so funny!

Congrats to everyone with chicks already!  What the heck is up with all these early babies!  I doubt mine will be here before Sunday!  Marans are always so slow.  Living vicariously through you all right now!    pop.gif

Hmm, thought I posted this, but guess I didn't hit submit or something. Anyway, my first chick hatched... still kicking myself for not believing everyone who told me to have faith.  it is one of my cream legbar eggs and it looks like a female! Sweeet!  So excited, hope she will coax the others out.  The two SFH pips haven't change much in the last 9 hours.  The CL pipped and hatched in 3 1/2 hours.  She was anxious I guess!IMG_1640.jpg

Thats what I use, that rubber shelf liner. When I put mine in lock down I only had 3 sheets handy so I sent DH on a search thru my chicken stuff to find me one more sheet and he had no idea what i was talking about. I put the larger eggs in one bator and the bantys and quail in another one. My third bator has quail eggs I just set last week so I couldn't use it like I had planned. I didn't have any chirps or pips and it was afternoon so I didn't candle either. I was reading how others where having hatches going on and didn't want to risk waiting too late.

Eggs in lockdown!

Of the 7 W/BWA 5 have definite movement.

1 is questionable and the last one a goner, I think.

Oh, the waiting! fl.gif

I didn't see anyone else answer this, but I could have missed it.

I think most people shoot for 65%.  I think that's what the "rulebook" says.  I get better results at 70%, which I think is just the house I'm living in.  It can be 65% in my incubator, then I squirt a little more water on the paper towel, and within minutes a couple more chicks will start zipping.  hu.gif

I have 29 duck eggs in lockdown (15 WH and 14 Acona). My DW assures me only 8 will hatch, or anything more than that will find homes. I think I'm the only one that panics I'll have too many hatch.

Good Luck everyone!

The waiting is killing me! Im checking the bator every 3 seconds and as always, no pips. They only hatch when I'm not looking or when I'm alseep. For me, day 21 is tomoro (Thursday) and I though I might hear some peeps by now but nothing yet fl.gif

Chickens are very addicting droolin.gif , everyone here is a chicken addict yippiechickie.gif, people may look at you weird when you tell them, but its way better to be addicted to chickens then all the other stuff out there.............

Wisher... loved the short story. You are good.

No more movement in my 3 pips.  No pips in the Brinsea.  I'm thinking those first four in the Hovabator is all I'll get out of it.

Wish I knew why I woke up... I was so tired..

66 eggs locked down.

I'm following the dry hatch instructions, my humidity seems really high but I'm going to just go with it...

I didn't see any pips while I was puzzling all the eggs into hatching baskets. I almost didn't get all the eggs back in as the baskets took up more room than I thought they would.
