Hatch day isn't till tomorrow and I have 5 that hatched, several more pipping. 1 however hatched then died during the night hit.gif. I have never had them hatch early like this before. Maybe it has something to do with the full moon last night!!!!hu.gif

Soooooo this morning, I woke up at 5:45 to peeping!!! No one hatched or pipped but I could hear em peeping it up in there. Went back to bed and it's 9.45 and still no pips. I still hear peeping tho. smile.png and the post office didn't call this morning to have me pick up my chicks sad.png today is day two for them. I'm really upset about that. I have the worst luck.

If that is one of the symptoms then I have to go home immediately!!  Hatchitis sounds like a very serious medical condition!  lau.gif

I only ran the incubator because my last broody quit on me a week out from hatching.  So I got a cheep incubator. Its bare bones styrofoam.  Just incase my broody quits again. But I had to put something in there. hu.gif Right?  So I put the eggs she was siting on and exchanged them for the breed I really wanted.  And put my mix flock eggs in the incubator.  I candled at 10days and only these 2 had something it.  My rooster is not doing his job.  Or he just likes the silkies the best.

I hear cheeps and chirps coming out loud and clear this morning. I thought from the beginning I had flubbed up the whole operation but I guess I got a handle on it after all. Thank goodness

Jeff

There's a whole world of differences between propagators and breeders. My goal is to propagate breeders towards the Standard of Perfection.

You can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear, you can make a purse out of it, but it won't be silk. LOL

Maybe in about another 30-40 years I'll get this "being an expert" thing figured out by then. LOL
