"(CNSNews.com) - Farmers and congressmen from farm states continue to slam proposed U.S. Department of Labor farm regulations, which would bar farm children under 16 from operating tractors and other machinery and working with livestock."

prohibit minors from “working on a farm in a yard, pen, or stall” that contains various types of livestock.  .... wth does that mean they cant even feed a dew ducks and goats anymore. Well just send the #^$&%* politicans to mu house in three years twice a day to feed any livestock we will have then.

I know! Me and my sisters are going into the 4-H Vet Science program this month! And this is saying we "may be exempted from the regulations if enrolled in a 4-H vocational or educational program, which requires a completion of at least 90 hours of farm-related training and education."

These are the regulations.

The regulations say we wouldn't even necessarily be "exempt" it just changes the stipulations. What the heck? This is a free country. If my parent/legal guardian wants to put me in a stall with a blasted bucking bronco they have that right! The government has NO right to say otherwise. Just wrap us in bubble wrap! We'll be ok.

Wow...so how the heck is this going to be enforced? Is it only applicable if the under 16s are to be paid for their work or does it extend to unpaid labor, i.e. chores? Time to write to my dear Congressmen and Senators again...

I don't even know what to think of this......it is really bothering me......I understand child labor issues but good gravy my kids always help in the stalls and cleaning out pens etc and we don't even have any large animals, our largest critter is a goat that thinks she is human.  A lot of times it is a chore for them but then again a LOT of it is learning responsibility and caring for an animal they dearly love.  We all work in the garden together as a family ..... it isn't torture it is fun and quality time and plus they nibble as they go lol lol lol!!!  My goodness....... just speechless
