blood in the stool?

I have found blood in the stool at the bottom of the roost.  I am concerned this is a serious issue.  It is only in one spot so I am assuming only 1 chicken has the issue at this time.  Is this a parasite? If so how do I treat it?  Thank you for your help.

I think I found a response to my own question.  If anyone is interested, I found a website that makes me believe this is normal shedding of the intestinal lining.  http://www.chat.allotment.org.uk/index.php?topic=17568.0

Thank you for the link. I just found droppings in our coop similar to the photo of shed intestinal lining. How have your chickens faired--did you end up having any disease, or still a healthy flock?

Thanks for the link. I was wondering what was going on with my pullets as well.

I just lost 4 chickens that presented with one bloody stool.  One more had one bloody stool and I treated him with Corrid.  So I'm thinking that blood can show up on some stools, not all.
