I have had most of the breeds on your list and the friendliest ones are the Australorps and the Orpingtons. I personally like the Australorps a little better as they are better layers.

I am a new chicken keeper, my girls are close to 5 months and none are laying as of yet. I have 8 chickens of 7 different types. In order of most friendly is one Gold Orpington, Barred Rock, Gold Star, the other Gold Orpington, Easter Egger, Cuckoo Marans, GLW, Light Brahma. The Light Brahma will always come up because she loves food and thinks I may have a treat, but she is much adverse to being handled. None of mine are unfriendly. I love my chickens! They are so much fun, I can't believe how much I am enjoying them.

We all love chickens. Your Gold Star, like all Red Sex Links, will be a laying machine. Good luck with your flock.

my favorelle is hands down the most attached to me. I had a sweet little coronation Sussex that I think may have been a sweetie, but before she was with me long enough to take first place, a fox got her. She definitely was the gentlest and sweetest. I am at my limit of 8 right now, but would love to have another coronation Sussex. they are really beautiful birds. presently I have a Delaware, definitely the leader and very friendly, a salmon favorelle, an australorpe, a buff orpington (I had a beautiful large lavender orpington that was much friendlier, but lost her a couple of weeks ago), a blue laced red wyandotte and 2 americanas, and a light brahma. The last 3 are only a week old. so for my most friendly, I would say my salmon favorelle, my Delaware, my coronation Sussex and my lavender orpington. My buff orpington, australorpe and Wyandotte will all come to me, but don't like to be touched or held. They just want to be near me and take a treat from my hand, but don't touch! My baby chicks are adorable. one Americana will just sit in my hand and look at me and not even want to get down while the other just screams bloody murder and the brahma doesn't like to be held if she has her way.

I love my Silkies. They are so friendly and never bother any other birds. Of course, I'm not talking about laying. This is strictly about friendly, fun birds.

Thanks Michael. Yes, Star, starting laying at 19 weeks. She gave us 3 eggs the first week, two of which were imperfect on the end and broken. The third egg was perfect and from then on she is gives us beautiful (and delish) large gold-brown egg every day. And she is sweeter and sweeter - loves to be picked up and carried around. And gets along well with the other chickens - she and the Light Brahma are buds. What a funny pair they make. She lays her eggs early in the morning - sits for less than 15 minutes! I hope she stays healthy; I really love her.

My Light Brahma will hardly come up and get food out of my hand! When she was a chick she was one of the friendliest but now she is the least. She sure is pretty though.
