Leap Year Hatch.... Who's with me? *updated with webcam link* - Page 12

We had another hatch during Leno last night and woke up this am to 3 more!  So, the chick count is 5 with at leas 6 pips.  Hard to keep track with all those little chicks tumbling all over them and turning them upside down. 

There was quite a bit of blood (at least a half teaspoon) in the bottom of one of the incubators near the egg.  The chicks all seem fine so I am assuming all is okay.  It just looked to be a lot of blood for such a tiny creature to lose.  Glad I wasn't watching when that one hatched... I wouldn't have been able to sleep last night!

i woke up to another chick this morning too.. so that's 4.. the 5th egg was put in a day late and is working on hatching..

here's my leap day baby emu.. he had a rough start.. bloody navel and had a hard time getting his feet under him.. but today he can sit up straight and tall.. so I'm keeping my fingers crossed!

this one weighs 433 grams this morning .. so he's just shy of a pound.. and he's a 'small" one since he lost a little too much during incubation..

the last chick was just over a pound

when he sits upright he's taller than a soda can..

Congrats everyone. I love that emu.

Is everyone done?  What were your numbers? 

We still have 3 I'm waiting on.  I thought for sure they would be out this morning.

For now, we have 21 (one baby died in the brooder yesterday) out of 41.

On the 29th I had 4 mutt chicks hatch out (#5 was a day late.. but he made it.. so that was 100% hatch rate)

and 1 emu chick hatched out
