Have you tried leaving BYC and clearing out your browser cache?

Have you tried Firefox or Chrome?

My back button not working like it used to is probably one of the most frustrating things to me with the new platform.  I haven't said anything because I figured it came along with the new platform and the way BYC now communicates with my computer.

Thanks for the notes.  Here is the minimum info we need:

•  How long has it been happening?  If only one time, what day and time did it happen?

•  Does it happen every time you use the back button or are there times the back button does work?

•  Which browser and version are you using (eg., Firefox 3.5.9, Internet Explorer 7, etc.)

•  Have you logged out, deleted your internet cache, logged back in, and tried again?
•  Does the problem still happen when you try a different browser?

Our engineers require each of those questions be answered specifically in order to troubleshoot and try to fix the problem.

Operating system: Windows 7 Pro SP 1

Same computer 2 browsers, 2 different behaviors...

With IE 8 :

Back button consistantly doesn't work, however tried the refresh and that allowed me to go back to previous page but back button wouldn't go back from next page until I refreshed.  (iow refresh allows back button to work once to leave the page that was refreshed).

few other notes:  I just created my account, but have been browsing the forum for the last few days as a guest and the back button didn't work then either. So, being logged on or not doesn't seem to have an impact.

With Firefox 5.0.1:

Back button seems to work fine everytime I've tried it so far.

Hopefully this will help narrow down to the culprit.

Well, you're the third person in 4 days to report the problem.  We haven't been able to figure out what is causing it, but we'll keep digging.

If anybody else is having this problem we must get the following info:

•  How long has it been happening?  If only one time, what day and time did it happen?

•  Does it happen every time you use the back button or are there times the back button does work?

•  Which browser and version are you using (eg., Firefox 3.5.9, Internet Explorer 7, etc.)

•  Have you logged out, deleted your internet cache, logged back in, and tried again?
•  Does the problem still happen when you try a different browser?

I have the problem too, I have to reload the page each time to use the back buttomso now I will normally just click the drop down thread box and go to the start of threads, it's easier for me.

i have not tried a different browser or logging out (that just seems wrong-I can't log off byc, seems like I live here lol)

We've had a hard time tracking this down.  It seems it may be isolated to peeps with a very specific setup / configuration... probably a specific version of IE and with ads turned on.

Anybody having this problem, please help us by providing the following:

  1. Which browser and which version are you on?
  2. Does the problem continue with a different browser?
  3. If you are a GFM or PPM, does the problem continue if you turn off ads?

I have the back button issue as well.  I'm on windows XP with IE 8.  I have my settings so that I dump cookies and clear history every time I close my browser.

Sometimes (but never at this site lately), I can go to the "recent sites" dropdown thingy next to my back/forward arrows. (I do this when I've done multiple google searches and I want to go to a specific search, and I don't want to click the back button muiltiple times.)  Anyway... The sites that come up when back won't work here at BYC are listed as follows:

http: (or https:)//googleads.g.doubleclick.net/page

It has a long list of the same thing- this one page list.  It only happens on this site.  I can't switch browsers.

It seems to have only happened since google changed their privacy policy and how they process ads?  I don't think it happened before, but maybe it could have and I just didn't notice it.  I hope this helps.

To get around it, I have been using the forum menus instead of clciking back.  It's a pain, but it works.  I hope the issue gets resolved soon.

I have good news, I logged out and logged back in and now the back button works. I have another issue in that my 5 year gift (for being on byc for 5 yrs) the coupon code doesn't work. this is what I get for a message.

Error: Coupon is either invalid, expired or reached its usage limit!

FYI:  I logged out, cleared by browser stuff, logged back in, and the "recent pages" dropdown arrow was reading pages that I'd visited.  I looked at 3 most recent posts, then came back to this post.  After about 4 clicks, the google ads links came up again. also-  I have made sure that I am NOT logged into gmail when I have done this.
