Hello all,

I have been waiting 5 days for my order of eggs to arrive in the mail. We are going on day six now, and I am worried. Can someone give me advise on how to handle this problem?

You have heard from the shipper & you know they were shipped 5 days ago?
Are they chicken eggs? Those seem to be hardier than peas, or other larger
eggs.

All of my orders this year have taken 4 days during shipping.... They were
chicken eggs & looks like at least half are fertile. I had some quail
eggs (not shipped) that I just put in the incubator to store because
I wasnt sure what to do with them, they were laid in very cold weather,
so figured they were frozen for sure.... Am about to hatch 11 of 'em &
they were probably in there 10-14 days, cant exactly remember.
Those others were probably froze up.
So I am saying, "Dont give up hope yet".

I also ordered & shipped during a mild temp spell
so the eggs were not froze up during shipment.

Where are you located & how far did the eggs travel?
Like Tmfineg asked about - a tracking no. is most helpful.
Next time, request tracking info, for sure.

Which day they go in the mail makes a difference too. I had one shipment of eggs posted on THursday and another on Saturday and BOTH arrived on Monday together. Like any package they can get shipped to the wrong area and get re-routed.

This is a tough time of year to be shipping eggs. Good luck, hope they show up soon.

If you do get them today let them briefly warm to room temp then put them in the bator as soon as you can Just don't turn them until tomorrow. This way they can still settle but you won't lose viability from sitting another day. I have read that on day 9 there is still 80% viability but on day 10 it goes down to 1%! I don't know how true this is but I would not risk letting them sit for the 24 hours to settle outside of the bator

With all of the postal offices closing, shipments take a lot longer these days.
My priority shipments used to take 3-4 days to reach me; now I receive my eggs in 7-8 days!
It's kinda frustrating, but what can you do, right?

When you finally get them, allow them to "sit" for the day and put them into the incubator that night.

Good luck!

I sent eggs to Tenn and Calif.

Both left on a Monday, The Tenn eggs arrived Thurs, the Ca eggs arrive Wed., go figure.

Always request a tracking # ( USPS charges 75 cents )
