she knew you loved her, and that in my opinion is the most important- she was never a neglected hen but cherished- i am so sorry- but she was blessed to have you as a mama

Thank you, everyone, for your kind thoughts. She will be greatly missed!!

 

Sometimes I've wondered because these types of things happen whether we should have even gotten into having chickens. After all we only had Miss Daisy just less than a year. We got her 1 year ago in March.  

 

That could also be true of any of our pets. But that saying keeps coming into my head:

 

"Better to have loved and lost than to have never loved at all......"
