One has hatched and about four more have pipped!!!

A great investment so far in an experiment and $2.99 for a dozen eggs.

The difference between breakfast and chicks, is the temperature you use to "cook" the eggs!

What breeds do I have?  More than any sane person would own.

I have four hatched, one zipped and another pipped.

I'll post a picture once I move them out of the incubator.

What a fun experiment.  Will love to see the pictures of the chicks!

Grocery store eggs shouldn't be fertile as there are no roosters in the barns and all chickens are there and caged just to lay eggs. The only roosters are at the hatchery's where they hatch their own chicks to replace the older chickens that have stopped producing. At least that's how it was when I worked at an egg farm. Well, many Trader Joe's markets do sell fertile eggs. I have hatched chickens from some, as have the other people in this thread. Times have changed - there is a commercial market for folks who prefer cage free, fertile eggs; both Whole Foods and Trader Joe's markets sell fertile eggs.

Buncha Outdoor PET chickens, ducks, two Toulouse ganders, and four turkeys. Plus 2 wiener dogs, some bunnies and a rescue cat which owns me. Oh. And a house silkie....

As Linda said, the Trader Joe's here sells fertile eggs.  They also sell cage free eggs and regular commercial eggs, both brown and white.  They are all side by side in the same case, you just have to choose what you want.

I now have five hatched and one more zipping.

We don't have any Trader Joe's in this state, just the big chain stores, couldn't tell you if they sell range free eggs since I don't buy eggs anymore. But I'm now curious and may hatch out a dozen myself if they have them and see what I get.
