The eggs I got from Jim

1 Langshan - pulled

1 Ameraucana going into lockdown

6 Iowa Blue - one broken in transit, 3 pulled, 2 going into lockdown

So I'm locking down 11 of the 20 eggs that were shipped to me,  not too bad for shipped eggs.

Deb, Any pattern to those that you pulled?  From one pen, dated the same?

None of the frizzles where fertile or they got zapped at the po. They where all clear. And the quail I have no idea because I set them with mine and half of them where not fertile which is an issue with one of my pens.  Everything goes in lock down on thursday.

Oh, I didn't look at the dates, I'll check.  But I pulled two from each, so I have four left out of each pen!

The difference between breakfast and chicks, is the temperature you use to "cook" the eggs!

What breeds do I have?  More than any sane person would own.

Out of a total of 30 shipped eggs, I've got 25 still cooking. The 5 never developed.

I didn't mark which eggs were from whom, but no matter which way I look at it, 25/30 isn't bad.

Jim, none of the ones that were marked from you as a specific breed got pulled if that helps you.

I just put the 11 Swedish duck eggs I got from Poco Pollo into lockdown.  Two have already started to pip!  I saw movement in most of them.

Unfortunately, my chicken eggs did not fare so well.  I think I only have a few that will make it.  I had 3 bators going, 1 for ducks and 2 for chicks.  Two were on shelves and the third was on top of the brooder.  On day 3 I got mail order chicks.  When i was outside feeding, my grandson woke up and heard the chicks.  He saw the light on the bator kept going out, so he thought the light had to be on for it to work...When I checked that night it was 120.barnie.gif So those were done.  Out of the other one, I have 30 eggs in lockdown, but I think only about half of them are good.

My Easter hatch goes into lockdown tomorrow.  I only culled two eggs at day 10, so my brooder is going to be full!  I can't wait to see all the new fluffy faces and behinds.

I have a chick out already on day 18.  ep.gif  and 6-7 more piped.   I will be having a PRE-Easter hatch.  lau.gif Wish I could go back and check the weather... I wonder if these starting incubating in transit. They are not all from the same person or state.....strange.  My incubator runs 99.3 - 99.8 & dry incubation.   hu.gif

61 out of 71 made it to lock down.  wee.gif

I had 3 thermometers that have probes.  I set all 3 of them beside each other with the probes together.  I had 6 different readingsbarnie.gif.  I decided I couldn't let it drive me nuts and hoped for the best!

Thankfully I didn't toss any of my swap eggs after the first candling cuz I thought there was only one good egg..  Set 6 - 3 Clears = 3 in Lockdown!

I just put my Easter hatch in lockdown.  I set some auction eggs at the same time as the swap eggs, so I will have to prep another brooder to be sure I have space for all the new babies.  I candled a few to check air cells before I shut the incubator door.  Everything looked great, so I'm optimistic about this hatch.  I want to say be big THANK YOU to my swap partners for making this Easter special.  I'll post baby pictures when there are enough dry, fluffy chicks to move from the hatcher to the brooder.
