I think my Ameracauna is a girl ... no crowing yet, and she looks hennish. But those iridescent tail and wing feathers, and the plumage that looks suspiciously like hackles and saddle feathers ... and the upright stance ... what do you guys think? Bernice or Bernard?

Hens can have iridecent feather to so she/him could still be a girl.Check the axel feather,if it long you got a cock,if its short you got a hen.

I vote roo. The red on his sides say roo to me. Also I am pretty sure I am seeing some saddle feathers back there. But don't put him in the pot because of what I say...I am not 100% sure.

220% cockerel. it has pointed hackle feathers, plus the deep dark red on the wings like that is a cockerel only thing. the irradcent green on the tail any black chicken will have.

absolutely a rooster, no doubt

Definitely a Bernard. Pointed saddle and hackle feathers, dark red on his shoulders. Absolutely a cockerel.

And he's an Easter Egger, not an Ameraucana. If it doesn't fit the breed standard, it's not an Ameraucana.

Wah! :(   Will I ever hatch a blue/green egg layer?  This bird is 3 1/2 months old. Thanks, everyone.

Most definitely Bernard.

Breeding Welsummers and Barnevelders.

Having an Icelandic in the coop is like having a 2 year old in the house - they are into everything and don't follow the rules.

I have zero chicken willpower.
