no babies for me, 2 were not fertile at all, 1 died around day 7 and the other around day 12 or so. I couldn't see in these eggs being a first timer and dark eggs. Hopefully the next hatch will work out. I can at least see in those eggs.

Loving wife to a crazy hubby and mother of 3 insane kiddos, 2 d'uccles (rip Iris and twin), 2 white rocks, a barred rock, an australorp, 2 nigerian dwarf goat babies, a pygmy goat, an angora rabbit, an american eskimo spitz and a lhasa apso/boston terrier and some fish.

Update....got home and the bator temp was down to 96 Humidity 51....temp in the room was down because it got so COLD last night and the electric heater couldn't keep it as high as it was. I still hear peeping and 6-7 pips. The one that was almost hatched yesterday died for some reason after starting to zip.... poor little thing!

Well, got up this morning expecting the Cochin egg to be hatched. It's still in the process of zipping but the other Silkie egg has hatched. At bed time all it had only a bulge of a pip. Problem is, it appears that both Silkies are missing their outside toe. I've tried taking pictures but so far can't get one that shows the problem. I don't want to get them cold. They can't seem to get their balance and I'm afraid they will become splay legged. I saw comments about taping feet/legs. Tell me more, what kind of tape etc....

Also neither Silkie appears to be white. The yellow I expected, but reddish & grey? Both my male & female Silie were white.

I believe they should have 3 front toes and one back toe, so if they don't have that I would say they are missing a toe. Sorry, I don't know why or what that would mean as far as culling goes.
