I'm doing my best to read and follow Pete55"s wonderful article.  I find myself pulling it up evertime I candle to compare what i saw with what is posted.

keepers are... 3 rabbits, 3 dogs, 1 mixed pair of geese,2 cayuga,5 buff ducks, 2blue mix ducks, 3 Embden, 5 baby turkeys, assorted laying hens + 1 roo + 5 golden sebright, Hubby, Mom, Mom's dog and her silkies, and ME

In general, are goose eggs difficult to hatch?  I really want to give it a try because I want Sebastopol goslings, but I also don't want to waste my money on eggs if it's difficult to successfully hatch them.  Any thoughts?

 

I did read Pete's thread about hatching.  Lots of good info, I'm just not sure how geese compare to chickens or ducks.  I just got an incubator to try to hatch some of my Serama eggs, but I've never hatched anything before.

Ducks:  Ancona, Welsh Harlequin and Black Swedish

Chickens:  Serama

Geese:  Sebastopol

In general Geese are not to bad to incubate though generally not as easy as chickens and ducks.  The main issues are a lower temperature (37.2C) and the correct amount of moisture loss during incubation.

Christine, I have 6 shipped goose eggs on day 23 and doing great.  I have been surprised at how easy it has been so far.  Not so different than duck eggs.

My menagerie includes 4 horses, 4 dogs, and 2 cats.
Geese: 8 dewlap toulouse (buff & grey), 5 african, 4 utility toulouse, and 2 african/toulouse
Ducks: 11 anconas, 3 cayugas, and 2 silver appleyards.

You're doing well on Day 23 and the daily cooling and misting will be helping to achieve agood moisture loss. Goose eggs laid earlier in the season seem to be harder to achieve adequate weight loss, especially the larger Dewlaps.
