It was at 100 degrees and 75% humidity.. based on what I'd researched that was all good n well.. BUT I did have to open the incubator during lock-down to help out a chick who decided to hatch breech... and he came straight through his yolk sack thing.. dummy! I have my own eggs in the other incubator due to hatch NEXT week and I'll not open it FOR ANYTHING ....we'll see if gets better for these 5 eggs.. I guess I just need more experience?

Well, finally Thurs. night April 5-- 7pm  I had my first pip.  10:30pm, my second.  Friday morning, those 2 had hatched.. and had many more pips and a zip!  HOURS later, out of 18 fertile eggs, that were in the incubator at lockdown, I have 17 live chicks, 9 I put in the brooder last night, and 7 are in the bator this morning.  The other 2 eggs, I can see, one has a pip.. the other could too, but it could be upside down, the way the others in there knock them around, lol.

A very colourful batch!!  yellow, black, black and white, browns.  They are from my shaver red hens.. and 2 roosters I hatched here under a broody, eggs I got from a friend.  So.... they must be a layer breed cross of some sort.  They are every colour under the sun.  And, she doesnt know what they are either.  Hoping for lots of pullets from this batch.  I can't believe how long it takes from the first pip, until they have all hatched.  Killer, waiting on those last two.. I want the incubator cleaned, and filled again! 

Just put 38 in one turner in the bator, and 41 in another turner...not all are ours most are for a friend. Due 4-29.

I'm wondering when is the earliest I can candle?  I set eggs under Dusty on April 2, in the evening.  Chip got eggs Apr 5, in the morning.  We were going to spilt 12 eggs between the two girls, but Dusty hogged all of them.  Thursday was the soonest I could get eggs for Chip.  

So anyway, maybe candling on the 12th will show something?  I feel like it's Christmas, waiting to see what's inside those eggs!
