My babies are hatching! I left the house twice today and both times I had a chick hatch! I am staying right here all night so I can see the next one! It is going to be a long week of hatching I had some set five days after these ones and these are running a little late at 23 days!!! Oh my!! I am so excited! One silkie polish and a frizzle/???  !! PS they are really not that close to the light... In this pic it looks like they are going to peck it!2012 013.JPG

Our humidity has been around 66 and is the same now..It goes up during the night but I think this is due to the bator being opened and closed during the day by curious little eyes excited for the first hatch! We candled the eggs and they were dark and the eggs were moving at that point. we are still turning them but are not sure if we should because 3 are now cracked but we are not due to stop turning til Monday. Also should we be handling them at this point? Also found the culprit for the bad smell he is gone and took his bad odor with him...

I need a touch of help please. I'm hatching WH's ducklings. This is day 25 and one has already pipped, which is 2 days early for this. It's rocking back and forth but not zipping yet. I have another one that's also rocking back and forth as well but no pip at this time. What would have caused this? I calibrated the hygrometer and thermometer and the temps were right on the whole time along with the humidity. It's only 2 eggs and they were both laid on the same day. Could it be I was able to get the eggs before they cooled off much?

What would cause an early hatch on an egg besides the temp and humidity being off?

Oh my gosh, everyone is getting babies this weekend! This is so much fun and yet it's so scary for the first timer in me.

Congratulations on the hatching. I can't wait to see my ducklings once they hatch.

Mine pipped and rocked for 2 days before they actually hatched..I thought they'd never come out. And they also were doing this early.

Had 5 silkies hatch overnight, so now there are 6 silkies and one lakenvelder in there..the L is staying away from the silkies though and just staring at them from across the bator
