I wasn't sure what to do about the smaller birds.. i know you said before to cull hard.. lol.. but I really wanted some nice breeders from these birds!

I do have one nice big male that's a keeper for sure .. he's bigger than most of the hens.. but even the smaller birds put my old ones to shame (which tells ya just how pathetic my old original "ebay" birds were!

interesting to me, my hens are usually bigger than my cockbirds. you had some keepers at the 2 week mark for sure, Im surprised those didnt make the 42 days weights.

I kept 5 birds from the original 18 I hatched from fatdaddy, 2 roos 3 hens all within 5g of 280 @42.

I did want to say, not blame, but I used FRM 28% feed the first brood, when I switched em to purina startena 30% I got better results. I havent done a side by side but believe in the purina more than the FRM, only a 2% difference in protein, but amino acid content/complement may be better? imho?

I was wondering if the protein percentage would make a difference. Since I'm heading into town today I'll see if Tractor Supply carries the Purina (they are the only feed dealer around here who does carry purina brand products.. just not sure if they carry the startena)

I do have a couple who meet the weights.. but not as many as I had hoped from the original weights. The one male is a big boy. I need to weigh him again and see how much he weighs this week.

Ive lost one so far this summer.

I live in Florida.

Im not gonna pander and tell you we are raising heat resistant jumbo quail.

heat is a bugger for all animals. I try and keep em cool.

honestly, I prefer hatching for growout in the fall weather, heat seems to put them off their feed a little.

I undrstand... I was just wondering if they needed any more or less then anyone else..... We raise rabbits and they need ice... birds are easier... cool water, and a breeze helps :)
