all booked up for shipping eggs for the next couple months. I have to make sure to hatch enough before Summer sets in down here. last year was a scorcher...

gonna double up on the 3 people promised to already bfrancis, yinepu and WMR, send them 2 packages of 50-60 eggs one week apart, make sure they get a good start.

so that is gonna let me ship 2 weeks worth of eggs each month and set 2 weeks worth of eggs each month. Fair?

In the next 2-3 months I hope we see some new people poppin in here with pics.

"If" their birds make the "cuts" and with the way they lay eggs, we should have a nice little co-op spread out from East to West and North to South.

Thus, making it easier for us to focus on getting a steward in each State with these birds ...muahahahaha.

awesome its a rainy windy friday night. we got droid, we got data.

first brood of the splits is 17 days

and new from droid, its the videoscale, woohoo! as you can see nothing up our skirts

next brood is 11 days

and we got some young lunkers, lil bigger than the brood ahead of them at 12 days. kinda like the little brother thing?

the browns avg 95g and the whites 85g. 10 grams heavier avg than previous brood a day earlier. lets reflect on that...

I went back and looked, the F1 splits, which were crosses of bills lil shaggy browns to my lil whites, @ 12 days my eventual keepers were 85-86 grams

our second brood of their offspring, (of the selected birds from the data below 11/19, 3 months ago.) has 7 birds @ 11 days 80,80,89,91,92,100,107

and a little bit of the mad scientist in me at the bottom there. to come up with a "guideline" to get to 280g by 42 days.

now, by guideline, we know they have to be 280g by 42 days.

working backwards and with our data we can designate "cull" points.

knowing if a bird isnt going to hit a mark it is removed earlier,

saving room and feed and not contributing to the future gene pool.

we can also project out, I hated calculus. extrapolate. never extrapolate from a sample...

Some of the big girls getting spoiled this morning, preventative, helps with callouses and easily removes poo balls on the toenails.

Notice how calm.

epsom salts with johnsons foot soap mixed with hot water poured over pine shavings to keep their footing stable.

Those girls made the cut.

look the goal of this whole thing is to get these co-op birds out there. Whatever they are, they are.

Work together to increase and diversify the gene pool while refining the desired traits within it.

To come up with things that create a desire to learn about the lil birds and coturnix in general.

I'm thinking maybe we can eventually start grading them by "nickel-weight" instead of "penny-weight"?
