Like partridge and silver penciled. Now, the breeder's birds were not gold/wildtype but silver, plus the mahogany gene which changed the white areas from the silver gene to sometimes have red streaks and smudges or sometimes just a dirty, red brown cast that was obvious in good light. Or so they said. I don't know about the autosomal red, maybe that was their problem.

My question: Is the difference between those partridge wyandottes of my past posts all in my head and if not what is the difference, genetically speaking? I am suggesting it could be the mahogany gene.

Yes, the really red ones carry mahogany; the more diluted buffish ones do not.

Here's a fun picture of my Pencil baby I got from Dick H.  Maybe two..:))012.JPG017.JPG018.JPG

Pretty sure it's a girl.  I posted on another partridge thread.  Wondering the same, but the boys combs and wattles are a lot bigger/thicker, and starting to turn red already.

Wonderful family, very understanding husband when it comes to chickens, dogs, birds, one big Golden Retriever, and thankful to the Lord for all!
