Getting a heifer on Friday! UPDATE-- SHE'S HERE!!!

Some farmer friends of ours called us up and asked if we'd want their Jersey/Holstein heifer that was born Saturday! She was 2 weeks early and needs some extra care and they don't have the time, so we went and looked at her and her mom today and we're picking her up Friday (no calves allowed in the van... need to wait for Dad's pick up truck...tongue)

Isn't she a darling? love.gif She's got a little heart on her forehead -- she was all excited to see us and wouldn't stand still enough for a good picture of that... You can kind of see it in the first picture...

Any name ideas that come to mind? We were thinking Holly, or some kind of flower... No Daisy -- that's our cow's name.

I have always liked the name Annabelle for a cow.

Or if you want to go with the whole flower theme:

Rosie

Daffodil

Honey

Honeysuckle

Lavender

Lilac

And much more!

Congratulations on the heifer! She is adorable! You must be so excited! celebrate.gif

Everyone in the household went gung ho for Valentine, so that's what it'll be. And she's coming home tomorrow! We bought her a little collar today... a beautiful pink.... love.gif

We'll be keeping her separate for a few days to get her and Daisy used to each other.  I'm sure Daisy wouldn't have much of a problem, but I'd rather be safe than sorry. Also she was just switched from bottle to bucket feeding and is doing great.

More pictures tomorrow!!!

She's here!!!

I rode in the back of the van with her (we decided the truck was too cold... and did the van anyway... tongue.png).....

Daisy loves her! As soon as she saw her, the kisses were lavished and the mothering instinct came alive again. We're still keeping them separate because weaning the steer still hasn't worked. He still jumps his 4 foot fence and nurses, and Daisy lets him. We don't want to deal with that with Valentine, so we're going to stick with the botte/bucket feeding.

By the way, she'll be a week old tomorrow. love.gif

A friend told me I was delusional. I almost fell off my unicorn.

I smile because I have no idea what's going on.  :D

My room is not messy, I simply have everything on display for everyone to see. Like a museum.
