This is Snow.  She is a Light Brahma Roo X Buff Orpington.  Her sister looks more like a light brahma without feathered legs.  There was two roos that looked exactly like light brahmas as well, but they are in the freezer now.

I didn't take pics but I had a Golden Laced Wyandotte that hatched a dozen chicks.  Each one is the shape of her (compact and petite), but the color of whatever roo she mated.  So some are black (austrlorp) and some barred (barred rock).  They all have single combs too.  Fun thread!!

Makes perfect sense since the old timers say that the chick gets it's size and shape from the hen and it's color from the roo. Of course this is only a rough guide, not 100% in all instances.

Thank You for starting this thread! I don't know where you originally listed it, but it should SURELY be in breeds and genetics......how else do particular breeds and traits come to be without crossing??!!?? It is nice to see what will result from calculated and accidental crosses. Who know's, we might find the beginnings of the next "must have" right here.

I really look forward to having something to post here someday. I'm totally saving this thread. I devoured all the pictures and descriptions of crosses.....I would LOVE some Barred rock X Buff Orpingtons!!! Thumbs up for the great idea.

WOW!!

Here is my Rooster Waldo
He is a Bantam Buff Brahma x White Chantecler

Here are some pictures of his sisters, who are obviously hens.
They are also Bantam Buff Brahma x White Chantecler.

We are about to set some eggs that will be very interesting mixes! They are just for Layers and Pets, but we are so looking forward to seeing what they turn out like! The one we are looking forward to the most is a Red Americana Roo over a Speckled Hamburg! We can't wait to see what we get. We have all the eggs marked with the parent mixes and are just dying to get them in the incubator!

absolutely stunning... I wonder if that crossing could be used as a starting point to get a strain of brahma in that color...
