Last year I was talking about doing chickens, then we went to tractor supply to price it out, and came home with 6 babies. If your looking to start go with basic breeds. Rhode Island Reds are a great laying breed, and have an extremely high survival rate. If you want a great pet chicken, go with the Silkie. It is a beautiful bird, too.
 
Hey all! I just ordered 40 chicks from tractor supplies special order chicks and I just don't know what to expect... It's a little cold here in Texas right now so I hope they are all okay... I'm just wondering how long it will take to get here and if they will be healthy etc. Etc.... I've never naught shipped chicks before but my local tractor supply has no good breeds this year so I thought that I might as well
