I am building a coop and added a light for heat like I had seen on this site. But I was wondering do the chikens mind the light on all night. Do i even need a light in Oklahoma weather if the house is well inculated?? Please let me know, and thanks

In my opinion heat is not needed unless temps are well below zero and you have breeds with large combs. Seldom use one here in extreme Northern MO. The most important thing is that the coop is draft free, dry and well ventilated. However, additional light can be helpful in encouraging winter laying. We used a timer for this. Occasionally it got left on all night. I am sure they weren't thrilled, but they still went to roost and slept as normal. Hope this helps.

I guess that was a silly question in that chickens have been around longer than electricity? Oh well, thanks for answering N Missouri!!
