As the sun started to set, Dan got this undeniable urge to get some food in his belly.

he looked in the cabinets and the refrigerator and there was nothing to eat except a few peanuts and spoonful of grape jam

He grinded up the peanuts, made peanut butter and made a PB & J sandwich.

Content and full, Dan planned a way to teach the chickens tricks, so that they could pay for their upkeep by performing special tricks.

My husband and daughters love birds and old houses with giant yards

1876 refers to the year our house and barn were built on the Kansas frontier

We have ducks and chickens goose, and pheasent

We love old things and old breeds.

We love eggs and the sweet birds that share them with us.

Dan only had the three birds and couldn't make up his mind which one of them would be dinner first. 

Mommy to BR (Onyx), 2 Delaware (Pearl & Opal), BO (Ruby), Pekin (Ducky), Cayuga (Daffy) & Mallard (Goose)! New: 3 Blue Silkies! (Jade, Amethyst, and Amber)

Also a Lab, American Bulldog, 2 cats, a guinea pig, a bearded dragon, two frogs and a koi pond.

Oh.. can't forget my daughter, granddaughter, step-son, and wonderful husband!

So in all of his indecision he decided to go to KFC and get a three piece meal.

But then when he got home and the chickens saw what he went and bought, they got off strike and started laying fertilized eggs for Dan to sell and/or hatch into more chickens to lay more eggs; Dan was so happy with them getting off strike that he went to the store and got regular food for all of them.
