Got a Cell Phone - Page 3

Maybe the OP is part of the 99%. smile.png

"Guns don't kill people abortion kills people."

Thomas Jefferson and Alexander Hamilton agreed on little publicly, but they did agree that when the public treasury becomes a public trough and the voters recognize that, they will send to government only those who promise them a bigger piece of the pie

my daughter shares minutes with my husband and I.    We have unlimited texts and unlimited data, thank goodness.

But she has a job and pays for her portion of the plan.  She buys her own phone if she wants to upgrade.   She has band and math competitions and all the social activities of a 16yr old. She works by her choice because we were not willing to pay for all of the extra things she wanted - fancier phone, name brand clothes, etc

That's how it works - if  you want it you have to pay for it.

YOUR phone? Not if she's paying for it, it's not.

Your mom cares and thats a great thing. As moms we get to protect you from not only the world but from yourselves also. We know when your not mature enough to handle certain privledges. When we see you take responsibility though our opinions can change. Not responsibility to text more either. Being a teen is tough but its tougher to be the parents of one. If you are very lucky your own teen will drive you as nutty as you drive your mom now. Lots of fun.

As far as the weak knees my advice is to GET OVER it. My husband has weak knees. He was barely 12 when he started physical therapy for it. He worked 12 hour shifts in a seafood department. Thankfully he figured out that even with all the stretches and bike riding to strengthen he knees, that would not keep them going forever so he buckled down and went to school for computers. Now he gets to work 12 hour shifts in a comfy chair. Attitude is everything and the only thing that can stop you from achieving what you want is the wrong attitude. Good luck dear.

Mother of 4, teacher of 2,  Raise chickens, ducks, geese, goats and YAY I finally have my dairy cow. I am addicted to finances and getting great deals. I enjoy sharing this with others, especially family. I actually enjoy doing taxes and have taught others to do their own.  I craft a little, sew a little, and read alot.  One upon a time people thought there was a chance I would be meek, quiet,...

I have no plans to get my kids phones.Dh told me the other day if the kids want to drive they can buy their own cars. If my kids end up on disability I guess they can use their state disability checks to cover their bills.I have a friend on disability, and she makes due with her $700 a month. It is tight but can be done. You will find a way to make ends meet,or find a way to bring in more money. I see my mom at 66 still throwing cash at my 43yo brother, and I am sad she did not stop when he was young.

Yea some parents are weak like my mom,but I will tell you it feels WAY better to make due on your own than to keep taking from parents.

Look for a different plan like Tmobile with unlimited txt and talk for $50.Why not pay monthly for  that for yourself, and then there is no need to argue with mom?

Did you notice that OP stopped posting? I think she figured out why she was so ignorant/wrong. Seriously though, how many people on this forum are this young and thick. Part of raising backyard chickens has to do with maturity, and wisdom in one way or another. I have seriously almost left this forum many a time just because some kid was talking about crushing on some digital person they have never met or some guy from P.E. That or "Mom has rules and I have to do chores waaaaaaa". Is there an age requirement for this forum?

There are mature teens here and immature adults here, it is just the luck of the draw.
