Help with Squirrels!

Thread Starter

Besides shooting them, how do I keep the squirrels out of the geese and duck feed bowls?! They are eating me out of house and home this year and the fowl do NOTHING to keep them out themselves! HELP! I want to start feeding them organic feed but can't afford to have organic squirrels!

Not a problem I have any experience with, but have you considered putting corn-on-the-cob on nails in trees for them? In my experience squirrels don't, by preference eat when on the ground.

When evaluating data one should always consider the source and remember, no one wants to make illegal that which he wants to do.

Trap or poison.

If you trap them, do not release elsewhere.  They will return and it's not nice to dump your problems on someone else.

One very good use for hawks and owls and one reason why I like having the raptors around.  I don't have tree squirrels but there are sage rats in the area and they are every bit as destructive. The hawks kill and eat a lot of sage rats. Go hawks!

I haven't personally tried this, and I'm not sure if it would fool the squirrels, but it might be worth a try...
