sometimes, if they aren't learning where to roost, a night light may help. Chickens have exceedingly poor night vision, so they gravitate towards light. If it is a possibility for you, try putting a light on a timer where you want them to roost that comes on as it starts to become dark, and stays on for like 30 mins to an hour to help guide them to the roosts.
