This is an idea I have... I want to seporate some of my breeds.. The breeds and numbers that I plan on putting in here right now are: SS x4, WPR/Leghorn x 4, Silky x 6, and some mixed breeds x 3 or 4.... I also have around 12 EE's and need to place them some where new also... Any idea's welcome.
Thanks.

Oh and they will all have seporate run areas also..
Thanks again,

I guess the separate coops will be tall enough for you to get in if needed? That idea looks great, as long as you don't try to keep too many birds in each coop. I love the central walk way and storage area. Will the 12 EEs be chicks or larger? Once they are grown, you will be crowded, unless the runs are large enough to make up for the smaller sleeping areas. You are talking about 30 birds in 64 sqare feet. If you are in the planning stages, I think you would be happier a year from now if you make it a little larger. Wish I had insisted on making mine bigger, cause I am seeing other birds I want!

Considdered making it larger but don't know if we can afford that yet... Almost all of my birds are grown. The exception to that is the eggs in my bator, lol. I was going to build another building for our EE's. Are you thinking that I should make each breed area maybe around 8 x 8 ft? That really would make for a large building. Yes it is large enough for a person to stand up in. yes I am still in the planning mode right now. As soon as our income check comes how ever, I hope to have my plans finalized and can go out and get supplies.. If you have any other Idea's for me I am open to sugestions.
Thanks

Here is the same idea just a little larger. Hallway is the same size just a little longer..

What do you think about this?

If you make the size of the total building a multiple of 4ft it will make it TONS easier. Plywood and most other items come in 4x8 ft sheets. Also, the hallway would be super uncomfortable at 2ft wide. Lay a tape measure with 24 inches pulled out on the floor. See if you want to go in and out of something that size every day. Possible with a sick/injured chicken, feed bucket, water bucket, etc. If you went with 16x20 that would give you a nice sized hallway. Good luck with the coop!

Ok I have revised the coop plan.... Lets see what you guys, or gals think about it now.....

I am loving having critics at my fingertips... lol.. I appreciate the help and improvements.

I used TNG (Tongue and Groove) plywood for my raised floor (no air or pests can get in). Be advised if you try this that 4'x8' *includes* the tongue + groove. You will lose the width of the tongue when putting sheets together.

A minor difference, but one to plan for if using TNG for floors.

Your plans are looking pretty good. What do you have planned for ventilation?

Are those windows or pop doors?

Those are windows... I also plan on having some kind of venting close to the top of the building to let the heat out.. I do plan on having pop doors, I just didn't put them on there yet.. Thank you for your input..... :)
