I had some rhode island red x light brown phoenix crosses that looked ginger red in color, not sure if they would have bred true but they came out that color/pattern

correct. they should be on e+/e+..
that´s because what a Ginger Red is basically a Black Tail red bird.. a restricted bird and one can have the same phenotype using different genetic backgrounds. for example I had a ER/eWh Db/db rooster that looked like a ginger red..
