Does anyone know if their are any breeders around sf bay area in Ca? I have very specific ideas of what I want and relying on a feed store is tough. Being in the suburbs means I only have room for so many hens but I'd like to find some good looking birds, Id love a Delaware and some orphingtons and Cochins and suggestions ?

Hello and welcome to BYC,

Deann at Just Struttin Farm is located in Novato and has some beautiful Lavender, blue and black Orpingtons that she is selling. I'm not certain of the availability right now but give her a call, she is very nice to speak with.

Stacey at Thistledown farm is in Davis. She's another local that sells Orpingtons as well.

There is a guy on CL that had a BEAUTIFUL cochin for sale ( we got his showgirls, not so beautiful) in  Los Altos or something.     He bought her at a poultry show and is trying to get less birds since  his silkies have gone chick wild and the city has a limit of 6 chickens. She was huge and fluffy and beautiful. Ill see if I can find any of his ads.

But, while you experts are all chiming in on the thread, anyone know someone with silkie eggs around  here? I'm in San Jose but we can make it to  the surrounding counties.

I am also interested in breeders or hatcheries in the bay area. I would like to get a Welsummer.

I'm somewhat of a local breeder. I live down in the Morgan Hill/Gilroy area. I'm trying to increase my breeding flock. I am currently breeding LF Lavender Ameraucana's. And getting into silkies as well. I have 3 silkies (2 females, 1 male), one is broody right now the other one doesn't seem to be laying. There colors are roo is splash and the females are a dark and light blue. I am also getting into paint silkies. But won't have any of those available til next year till I get the stock I want for these. I do sell hatching eggs (Lav/Lav split Ameraucana's) and once the silkies start laying again may sell eggs from them but on a limited supply. I will also sell day old straight run chicks only. If interested in either of these breeds please feel free to PM or email me.

Thanks

Hello Snow Rose and welcome-byc.gif

I know Deann offers Welsummers. Her breeding stock is from Whitmore farms..  I'm on her waiting list. smile.png
