built a coop bought 3 Sussex Buff chickens from our local breeder ( she has all types including silkies ) got some advice and penned off a corner of the garden. 5 days later we got our 1st egg. the 1st night me and the wife had to chase them into the coop but on the 2nd night we went out to get them put away and couldnt find them. they were in the coop coo-ing away almost laughing at us. great to watch from the kitchen when cooking dinner or washing up. looking forward to the summer now so we can sit in the garden and let them free range. they have an area of about 20ft X 25ft and the coop is 4ft X 2ft with plenty of ventilation at the sides and back. gonna get a couple of silkies in a few weeks to add to the brood.

Hi and welcome to BYC from northern Michigan frow.gif

Very pretty girls

Home of the world's cutest dachshund, one crazy blue heeler, two cats,
one fat pony, and many (but not too many!) chickens

Can anyone tell me, how many are too many chickens?

I too can watch my hens from my kitchen window. Great entertainment! Have fun with your new flock and welcome from California!

Greetings and welcome from North Yorkshire.

You'll have so much fun and so many laughs with your lovely chickens.  Each of them will have a different character.
