Silkie pairings that throw lavender

Thread Starter

I am new to the world of silkies, I currently have 3 and am looking to add more this year.  I love the color of lavender and would love to know which colors are more likely to throw lavender when bred.  I currently have a black, white and a partridge.  I was thinking about adding a few splash, blue or black.  Any suggestions on which ones to add to increase my chases of throwing lavender?  I know hatching lavender eggs would give me the gene, but I have someone who is going to let a hen go broody and hatch them out the old fashioned way.

Silkies and Nigerian Dwarfs, I love my life.

Best bet is to purchase a lavender bird or birds.  You can breed them to black to increase your gene pool, but it takes a second generation to get back to lavender offspring.
