Description: 18+ Blue double laced Barnevelder project eggs. Very rare color of Barnevelder! These eggs are by a Blue project roo (75% Barnevelder/ 25% BLR Wyandotte) over pure-bred Barnevelder hens. The resulting chicks will hatch out 50% Blue and 50% black. The chicks will be 3rd generation with about 87% Barnevelder blood. These birds are not imported. This is a project that I've been working with since 2009 and have made much progress in color and type. I still consider my "Blues" a project line and further selection and breeding will be needed to continue improving the line towards Breed Standards including egg color, type, and lacing.

The girls are laying very well and I increased the amount of eggs to at least 18 eggs.

UPDATE: LAST AUCTION until possibly Fall 2012. I will soon be switching out roos and hatching for myself.

See "my chicken page" for more info and pics here:

http://www.backyardchickens.com/a/tls-ranch-barnevelders

and more about my blue project here:

http://www.backyardchickens.com/a/projects

I do not guarantee hatching due to issues regarding shipping or incubation. I do my best to provide the best quality eggs possible and pack with great care. Eggs will be wrapped in tissue or paper towels and bubble wrapped individually. The eggs are then wrapped in more bubble wrap and surrounded with packing peanuts. I have had good success shipping eggs from CA to Maine, Florida and other states. I am not NPIP at this time, but have a closed flock (no trades, shows, new stock) with no known illnesses in my flock. Fertility is near 100% and hatch rates have been good even with shipped eggs.

Maybe someday..       these are dream birds, so exquisite, so amazingly gorgeous, you have done well.   They are breathtaking.   love.gif

I can't right now...    wish I could...    I would have to time it right for my Cochin to be broody and also have my "tax refund" or some special, extra income happen as well to be able to afford these.  I am watching for the right timing and financial bonus to go with your timing of offering them...     these just amaze me...   and I thought the Blue Laced Red Wyandottes were gorgeous..   but, these top those in my book..   ---   I love both..   they are amazing.

I am grateful to have just ever seen these beautiful chickens.  Thank you.  You have done very well.   yippiechickie.gif

Continued success and good luck..    I will keep track.

Take care....  Y.

Thank for the compliments:) It's been exciting to work with them and I'm very happy with how far they've come. I fell in love with Barnevelders from the moment I saw them and dreamed of having double-laced: blacks, blues and silvers. Importing blues was out of the question for me, so I decided to make my own:)

We get pretty hot up here too with summer temps in the 90's-100's The Barnevelders and my projects seem to do fine. But like other breeds they can stop laying if stressed too long when temps are over 100 for long periods of time. Although last year I still had hens laying even after nearly 2 weeks straight of around 100 temps. On the really hot days, I give them a water mister and that helps a lot. Every year the older hens (who remember) are the first to line up under the mister. The new pullets hang back until they figure out that the water mist actually feels good, LOL.

Since there were no current bids, I changed the auction to end on March 11th. That way I can ship the eggs to the highest bidder in time for the BYC Easter hatch-a-long:)

Watching and waiting for my cochin to go broody again....   but, it might be a while yet...  she just started laying again this last week, since her last babies.  I am keeping watch over your posts and my little hen.

Thank you.....

Quick question.  Is this auction for 18 eggs or 12 eggs?  It says 18 in title and 12 in the body.

One more question.  I really would love some of these, so I am wondering how well the eggs that have been previously mailed have hatched?  I know every batch is different since postal service handling is different but still would like to get a feel for generally how well they are traveling.

Sorry for the confusion. This auction is for at least 18 eggs and will be my last offering from the blue project until later in the fall. Our Internet was down since Saturday the 3rd and I only managed to get on line for a few minutes by using DH's work computer since then. I couldn't even finish updating the auction until now. Just got our internet fixed a few minutes agocelebrate.gif
