Can impacted wisdom teeth cause pain in other teeth? - Page 2

When you get exrays they should figure out where the pain is coming from and come up with a treatment plan.

 

Wisdom teeth can also give you a headache in your temples.

 

That's the last thing on my dental to-do list, the wisdom teeth. They've settled into place now and the pain never was that bad, so not sure if I'll have them pulled or not.

 

I went through 3 different dentists before I found a good one, who finished up everything and fixed what others had done. Anything that makes you second guess the dentist, no harm in a second opinion. The new one I have does cosmetic dentistry, the regular ones before wanted to pull out teeth I thought could be fixed. The cosmetic one fixed them, didn't pull any of them. He even saved the worse one and it's never felt better.

Dentists make more money by not pulling teeth... tooth gone money source gone.

I woke up today with real bad pain almost like an abscess after brushing my teeth. I called up a office that I was thinking of switching to since I wasn't happy with my last dentist. They got me right in today luckily.

 

I got to the office and the staff and the dentist were very friendly and answered my questions. They didn't rush me like the last dentist. They took some x-rays around the teeth that were hurting and he checked my gums and tapped my teeth. He didn't find any teeth that needed to be immediately fixed and didn't find any abscessed teeth. I asked him what the pain could be from and he said that my teeth seemed to be sensitive. He said that they probably needed cleaned real well especially since I said the last time I had them cleaned the person had to stop cause my wisdom tooth was to sensitive to the water/air being sprayed. Him and his assistant said that my wisdom teeth needed to be out due to overcrowding. He sort of said they might be moving my teeth around causing some sensitive areas. He handed me a prescription toothpaste to help build my teeth back up and reduce the sensitivity. 

 

I went to the store and got the nice expensive $23 toothpaste and bought some pain medicine while I was there. I had a hard time walking around and waiting cause there was so much candy and fresh baked sweets in Walmart that I wanted them. I hadn't ate much and was hungry. 

 

I sort of wished I had an abscessed tooth or something so I wouldn't of felt like I wasted money for them to tell me there wasn't any immediate problems. Hopefully it isn't a tooth near the ones that were x-rayed since one of the teeth are sore to push on. I don't see any big cavity in the tooth though and it is one that is wedged. Didn't know it was tender till after I got out of there and took a bite in a sandwich. They want to wait till I get my wisdom teeth out and then do a current full mouth x-ray.

Don't feel bad about them not locating the source of pain.  I had a root canal performed a month ago (#15) and the dang thing is still bothering me.  Had the permanent crown placed last week and the molar still throbs enough to interfere with my thought processes. All radiographs indicated there is no infection, and the dentist suspects my sinus is the culprit.  Had a temp crown placed on another molar  (#2).  Pain was so bad I actually took a LoriTab. Odd thing is I still have my wisdom teeth and they have never been a source of pain for me-knock on wood.

After the last two days I know that my wisdom teeth are the main thing causing the pain. The toothpaste helped with the teeth that were hurting except for one. I did take some pain medicine yesterday and when it was starting to kick in I could feel the pain coming from the top and bottom wisdom tooth. They throbbing up to my other teeth and even into my sinus and eye socket. 

 

I got my appointment tomorrow to talk with the dentist and will probably know a date then when he can take them out. Hopefully it will be this week. Been nervous and scared about having them taken out but after a week and a half of pain I'm ready for them to be out. I know I'll be feeling sick and everything else the day I walk into get them out from my nerves but luckily I'll be knocked out for it. I think his office is even in the hospital.

Good luck and hope they do it soon. I know after seeing the doctor they had me in 2 days later to have them removed. And you will feel alot better after. After the first week of healing you will be able to tell a huge difference in pressure from where they were pushing.

I talked with the dentist today and they gave me a price of $2,400. My mouth about dropped open when they told me the price for a IV, two bony impacted teeth , and two easy to pull teeth. My question now is that to much and if I should find another dentist? 

 

I'm seeing prices online of around $500 for a bony impacted tooth, around $200 for simple wisdom teeth, and $200-$400 for the IV.

 

I don't have insurance either.

My dentist charges 150.00 extraction (cash)  not sure on the other stuff.

It was just about $2300 for all of mine to get extracted about 2 months ago. Pricing goes up depending on the difficulty of the extraction per tooth. I think it was $250 for me to be put under, $80 for initial exam, $200 for x-rays, and then around 250-400 per tooth, there was some other costs in there too but I can't remember them all. I had one impacted tooth and it was definitely more than the rest, and 2 that were still partially under the gum tissue.

 

You could definitely call around and get another opinion, might be able to shave off some of the price, but it seems to me like the prices of dentists is just ridiculous no matter where you go these days. My DH had to get a root canal shortly after my wisdom teeth got pulled and it cost us just over $1700 for one tooth.

I know my IV was about $300 but that was the only thing insurance didnt cover me. I only had to pay part of the rest to pull the teeth so cant help you out there. But I still have my bill and it says at the bottom before insurance it would have been $2100. So thats about $450 per tooth before my insurance.
