My chicks are shipping today! UPDATE, THEY'RE HERE!

They should be here on Friday. I ordered the Hatchery Choice Assorted Heavy Breed pullets from Cackle Hatchery. Any idea what type of chicks I can expect? It says "at least three breeds of brown egg laying pullets". Will they send a note saying which breeds are included or do I have to figure it out myself. This is my first hatchery order, all my other chicks were from local backyard breeders.

I've gotten their heavy breed assortments in the past.. I can't say for certain.. but if your order is anything like mine was you'll have some buff orpingtons in there as well as some barred plymouth rocks or wyandottes

I'm really excited! I don't care what they are, I just want them to get here already.

Today I found a puppy running on the side of the road. I went up to the house nearby to see if they owned it, but there was no one home. I took the puppy with me because I didn't want it to get hit by a car. I went back to the house about an hour ago and it was their puppy. Then I noticed a sign that said "fresh eggs". I glanced around and saw their hens were in with roosters so I bought a dozen of them. When I got home I cracked one open and as I suspected, it was fertile. One of the eggs were cracked, but I put the other 10 in the incubator.

I figure I have six that are going to freezer camp, so I am replacing them with 15 from the hatchery, and now how many that might hatch here at home lol...

#1 looks a lot like my RIR chick

1 RIR rooster, 1 RIR hen, 1 White Leghorn hen, 1 Gold Barnevelder hen, 1 bantam rooster, 1 bantam hen,  lots of chicks with more on the way, one black lab mix puppy, Maggie (or Maggot, if she's bad), 1 happily un-pregnant tortoise shell cat, Jack, 6 kittens, and 1 rabbit (That until 2-28-12 we thought was a boy...).

Could they be red and black sex links? I don't think the yellow ones are BO's, I have BO's and none of mine had the chipmunk stripes on the back.
