6 Baby Chickens arrived today~ - Page 2

So sorry about your loss! I like MPC because not all places ship the babies with a heat pack. When I got my babies the heat pack was still warm! They were all sitting on it and pushing others off. Those heat pack hoggers! <333
I hope the others will become stronger and stronger each day!
My Cochin is sleeping a bit way to much. But she seems to be doing a lot better today. I use brown sugar instead of white. Because my granny said brown was more healthy. I doubt the difference in the sugar matters. But that' s what we had on hand. They seem to like it a lot! ^^
YEY for babies chickies! I love them so much!

Humm, it was so hard to decide which breed we lost but it was much lighter yellow and looked much more like all of the pictures of the white leghorn or BO. Here are a few pics of the one I think is the EE (the yellow one). All of the darker ones I know which breed they are so those aren't in question. :) Opinions?

When I got what turned out to be an EE, I was told that it was a white orpington.  It didn't have the puffy cheeks when young but she does now.  I think waiting and seeing is part of the fun.  :)

That little cutie looks more like an orpington or leghorn to me.  All of the E.E's  we've had, have had a chimpmunk pattern( you may be able to see from the pic I posted yesterday), that's the easiest way to tell, as the puffy cheeks don't show until they're much older.

Aww the pictures are so adorable!
Well whatever that baby ends but being I'm sure she/he will be strong and healthy~ Looks good in the pics to me!
My White Cochin sleeps a lot but it gets up eats, drinks, lays down, snoozes for a few seconds and gets back up and runs around and repeat.
Strange little fella! ^^ I checked to make sure the tempt. was right. So far it's around 90-93F~

After a lot of searching pictures of chicks, we have deduced that the little yellow ones we have are probably the White Leghorn and the Buff Orpington and that the Easter Egger must have been the one we lost. Of course, we won't know for sure for a few more weeks. :)

So today we went out and got two more Araucana chicks to add to the clan. Looking forward to some fun blue eggs! They both have the chipmunk coloring , one light, one darker. They are such sweet  little things, just joined in with the others as though they had been there all along. And happy to report that the 6 others are doing great as well!

Those look just like my E.E's! :)   I wonder how much difference there is between the E.E and Araucana?  Did you get them from a breeder?   I was told that only breeders sell true Araucanas, so if you got them from a feed store they may lay a different color egg(green, pink, white, and possibly still blue).  The breeder we got our E.E's from last year said that they'll lay the same color egg that they were hatched from,  I thought that was pretty cool.    :)

They are from a feed store so I am sure they are just EEs even though they call them Araucanas. I really wanted to get some "true" Araucanas from a breeder just an hour away from us that does the rumpless Araucanas in all sorts of cool colors but she doesn't know how to sex them so I would be taking a chance on getting a rooster. Not a risk I was willing to take so I opted for these little cuties.  I am still bewildered by the chick we lost...it was really light yellow orangeish feet and beak and didn't have any chipmunk coloring.  Oh well, it will be fun to see what we end up with I guess! :)
