Thanks for changing the images, I tried that the first time and they didn't come up, so I switched it so they can at least be viewable.

My husband made me a *hay cleaner* last year for some chopped alfalfa we got that was filled with dirt and silt.  It worked so easy and thorough.  Then I used it to put on top of our homemade brooder in an old metal horse trough.  Your's is brilliant, and I always say to myself,"Now why didn't I think of that?" (Refering to your funnels that is :)

Great feeder!  Will try to emulate your design. Recently have had work schedules that have made tend our herd of chickies more complicated. That feeder would be such a help!!

Krazykhick, "Rodents probably get in but the coop is up off the ground. Now if I could keep the wild birds from eating the feed and chillin in the run, lol." To help with this problem look at U-Tube on "TREADLE FEEDER"

Zip ties or pipe cleaners work great for attaching hardware cloth.  I made a few of these when I had to transport some birds.

Just a thought on this, you're probably going to need to paint the barrel white (or better silver) to reflect sunlight.  Essentially what you have there is a solar water heater.  During the bright summer sun the water in that sucker is going to get HOT!  I've got a similar system that I use to pre-heat water going into my water heater and during the summer when it's warm out and the sun is shining bright I'm getting output temps of 110+ with a blue 55 gallon drum that's painted black.

The heat is a down side of this, but it needs to be black to keep the algae from growing in the water wink.png
