The cupcake cups were a last minute thing. I had run out of papertowels, no rags left, saw them sitting in the cabinet and figured why not give them a try!

You are all driving me nuts. I just went into lockdown last night and I am just waiting. I am very excited though. At transfer to the hatcher I candled and 20 out of 20 were moving. This could be a great hatch!

Happy Hatching all!

I'm in Tennessee. Just talked to my mom back home. We have 15 out of 19 eggs by day 22. Not too shabby. Will post pics as soon as I get home.

I have three that have hatched, still waiting on two. Can't really see if anything is happening with them it has really fogged up in the incubator after the three hatched. Should I leave the three in the incubator? They still look really wet, but they keep bumping around the two eggs around in there.

do you turn off the fan during hatching????. maybe the fan dryes the hatching eggs. I turned it off but the humidity keeps getting lower.

currently up to ten chicks!! had two die while pipping! :( but the rest seem to be doing great. 20 eggs left 13 of them have already pipped!! now for the question--- about how long do they take to dry?

Hi all,

Just had a hatch rate I can't even talk about!

I had 3 out of 12 silkie eggs hatch....and 1 out of 38 mixed LF (the humidity spiked to over 80%)

Glad to hear about so many successes though!

I for one, will be working on my humidity levels to increase hatches for a while...

I don't turn the fan off at hatch time, do not know if others do. Thats an interesting idea to look up though.

Out of 36 welsummer eggs to start with:

24 hatched

2 pipped,  but failed to hatch

2 were not fertile

8 others due to blood rings or failure to incubate properly ( maybe something wrong with their developement ? )

In general was ok with the hatch, kept 5 of them, 1 died though, it was one of the last ones that hatched out, the neighbor got the rest of them, his kids were very excited about the baby chickens. The last hatch I did the neighbor and I split the hatch, 12 for them, 12 for us, they are 5 weeks lod and growning like weeds.

Have got Turkey eggs going now, with hatch date around April 9th.
