I have read that some do because it dries...but I did it and seems my humidity got crazy and low...added water and that the reading in the hidrometer again got low in less that an hour. With the fan on the humidity was steady for more than a day and then i'll need to add more water.

Well, 7 out, 1 died in pip, 3 never developed. 7 out of 11 not bad. definitive the dry hatching improved the numbers. Last time I got 7 out of 22.. B

I'll' post photos once they dry. I am under the impression that I have some blue marans instead of some of the black cooper marans. Most look like cooper marans...but 2 or 3 don't.. they look more blue with no white markings .Maybe because they are wet. I hope so.

Well, hatch #2 has been a lot more sedate than hatch #1 was last weekend. Just one pip so far, and he's been in there thinking about it for about 20 hours. But he's still peeping and moving about, so hopefully he'll make the final decision to get out of the shell! The other five still haven't made a move.

as of 0' dark thirty this morning my 7 eggs are on lock down.

Candled them last Wednesday and saw movement in 6/7. Number 7 seems to have been developing as much as the others.  we shall see.

I got three chicks out of eight eggs (shipped eggs). I checked the other eggs, two never started; one died very early on; one died mid way; one died during piping (look like it piped at wrong end. For my first hatch I have learned alot, especially what to change the next time! I'm just a little bummed I didn't hatch a single Showgirl out of the eggs, but I do have three very pretty Silkies! So I guess I'll keep looking for some Showgirl eggs, anyone have any out there hide.gif If my DH only knew I was looking for more eggs.

Silkies, silkies, and more silkies!

sorry they didn't hatch for you. glad you did get at least 3 pretty little silkies..Wish I had some, but I don't. My DH isn't happy with me either. I put eggs in the incubator already....but these are from our little d'uccle so he better just hush.
